Slaving for Nothing!

By: Shina Neo

In the material world;
Slaving for enjoyment,
Working in contemporary
Buildings their whole life.

Without a thought
Of what our life's goal is,
Struggles to attain,
What is only temporary.

As life goes on,
Without realizing that life is more,
Spends it uselessly,
Engaging in sinful activities.

Then the time comes,
When he is old,
Retired he is;
His body slowly withering.

Slowly his senses refuse to function,
His health, no one can say;
He is lying, in what will soon,
Be his death bed.

Then that's the end.
He achieved nothing
Of his life, but instead,
He was slaving for nothing!

Sign

By: Forrest Hamer

Consider the bird.
Consider the dreamer who witnesses a bird flinging
                 into a church, the windows yawned open.

Consider the flinging.
Consider the time between sign and dying, time nothing
            to do with the bird or the witness or the waiting.

Consider their congregation.
Consider the sermon near middle when the bird comes.

Consider the bound ceiling, and the jerking bird zigzagging about.

Consider that the death would be sudden.
Consider the old.

The funeral-tired, the hymn-weary, arm-weak.

Consider flinging.

Consider congregation.
The hovering flutters stuck.
A promise.

Each, every proof.

Just A Little Spice!

By: Shina Neo

The lights up in the sky,
The streaks across the night.
The glow from the back,
Is all right in sight!

The sound of willows blowing,
The noise of nuts cracking,
The bang on the gun shot,
Is just what we all thought.
